Class 10Th English (Words And Expression 2) Chapter 4 From The Diary Of Anne Franke Now children, let us begin a very powerful and emotional journey. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine a young girl, just thirteen years old, sitting quietly in a small hidden room. Outside, there is fear, war, and danger. But inside, she is writing in her diary. Her name is Anne Frank. Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929 in Germany. She was a Jewish girl. When Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power in Germany, life became very dangerous for Jewish families. Jews were treated unfairly. They were not allowed to go to certain schools, parks, or even shops. Slowly, their rights were taken away. This period is called the Holocaust, and it is one of the darkest chapters in world history. Millions of Jewish people were killed during World War II. Anne’s family moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, hoping to find safety. But in 1940, the Nazis occupied the Netherlands too. The situation became worse. Jewish people were forced to wear yellow stars on their clothes to identify themselves. They were not allowed to travel freely. When Anne was thirteen, her family went into hiding in July 1942. They hid in secret rooms behind her father’s office building. These hidden rooms were called the “Secret Annex.” Now here comes a very common exam question: Why did Anne Frank’s family go into hiding? The answer is that they were Jewish and feared persecution by the Nazis during World War II. Anne received a diary on her thirteenth birthday. She named it “Kitty” and wrote as if she were talking to a friend. From 12 June 1942 to 1 August 1944, she recorded her daily life, her fears, her hopes, and even her dreams of becoming a writer or going to Hollywood. That small diary later became one of the most famous books in the world, called “The Diary of a Young Girl.” After two years in hiding, the family was betrayed and arrested. They were sent to concentration camps. The most important learning points in this chapter are Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who hid from Nazis during World War II., Her family hid in the Secret Annex in Amsterdam to escape persecution., Anne wrote a diary named 'Kitty' from 1942 to 1944 recording her daily life and feelings., The Holocaust was a period of severe persecution and killing of Jews by Nazis., Anne’s family was betrayed and sent to concentration camps where Anne died of typhus in 1945, except her father who survived and published her diary after the war as a powerful testimony of that time.. Students should revise these points before attempting MCQs and long-answer questions.
