Have you ever wondered what actually makes things visible? This is one of the most common exam questions: Why are objects visible to us? The simple answer is this: we see objects because light falls on them and then reflects into our eyes. During the day, sunlight falls on objects. At night, a bulb or tube light does the job. The object does not produce light on its own in most cases. It simply reflects the light falling on it. That reflected light enters our eyes, and our brain forms an image. If there is no light, there is no reflection, and therefore no vision. That is why in a dark room, even if all objects are present, we cannot see anything. Now imagine holding a torch in a straight line and pointing it at a wall. You will notice that the light beam travels straight from the torch to the wall.
